Building Fuel Station Solutions with Reduced Risk

News

Risk Minimisation is the driving force when designing and building a fuel station.

With this clear objective for completing upgrades, installations and new service stations for BP Australia Pty Ltd and Caltex Australia Ltd, Building Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd was keen to help 7-Eleven Stores Pty Ltd establish their fuel station presence in Perth.

To deliver on this objective, which reduces risk to the builders, staff, community and environment, now and into the future, we considered the following factors during our design and construction of this iconic fuel store:

  • Petrol, fuel & gas storage – Fire, explosions, environmental damage and health effects when handled by individuals

  • Vehicle movement – accidental collision with structures, people and other vehicles

  • Hazardous substances – exposure to harmful chemicals through use, accidental spillage or leaks

  • Electricity – use of equipment externally in a wet environment

  • Fire – obstruction of fire exits and fuel for fires

  • Staff security – presence of goods and cash can present a risk to staff due to theft

  • Compressed air systems – abuse of equipment and over inflation of vehicle tyres

Years of comprehensive auditing and qualifications ensure Building Solutions is able to consider and address all factors in designing, building or renovating a service station, such as:

  • An A Grade rating with ISNetworld since 2010

  • Principal Contractor status with BP, audited by KRS

  • Member of Australian Petroleum Contractors and Suppliers Association

Building Solutions’ relationship with 7-Eleven has grown from building the first five Perth convenience stores in 2014 to the second 7-Eleven Fuel Store, which opened in Malaga on 30 June 2015, on time and on budget.

"As Australia's first choice in convenience, we are always focused on providing customers with a market leading offer. Mobil's reputation for quality fuels is longstanding, and introducing these fuel products into Western Australia will ensure we continue to provide an outstanding offer to our customers," said 7-Eleven General Manager Operations, Natalie Dalbo. “The Mobil brand premium fuels…include Supreme 98, Extra 95, Special E10, Special Unleaded 91 and Special Diesel.” Read the full 7-Eleven media release
